Sky Valley - Agroecological Farm & Orchard
Nestled in the heart of Ishigaki Island, Sky Valley is a unique agroecological vacation complex that embodies sustainability, community, and a deep respect for nature. Our journey began with a dream to transform the land into a thriving, self-sufficient ecosystem that not only nourishes the soil but also the people who visit and live here.
A Glimpse of Our Farm
Lush Fruit Orchards
Spanning 5,000m², our fruit production features a vibrant variety of tropical delights, including mangos, bananas, lemons, papayas, dragon fruits, coffee, and many others. These fruits are nurtured using sustainable farming practices that enhance both flavor and quality.Diverse Vegetable Gardens
Our vegetable cultivation covers 1,000m² within state-of-the-art vinyl houses and an additional 1,000m² in open gardens. From tomatoes to bell peppers and leafy greens, we’re continuously experimenting with varieties to find the best fit for our unique soil.Animal Integration (Opening late 2025)
A cozy chicken coop houses 10 to 20 hens, providing fresh eggs while playing a vital role in our permaculture ecosystem, will be implemented in 2025.Farm-to-Table Dining (Opening late 2025)
At our restaurant, guests can savor an authentic "grandma menu" crafted with love and ingredients sourced directly from the farm. Our aim is to be over 80% self-sufficient, offering a dining experience that connects you to the land.
Our Story
Ouranos began with a serendipitous opportunity. When we moved to Ishigaki in 2021, we cultivated a pesticide-free garden that caught the attention of our elderly neighbors. They admired our sustainable practices and eventually entrusted us with their land, knowing we would care for it and the community it serves. In March 2023, with their guidance and support, we began transforming the fields. This collaboration bridges traditional farming wisdom with modern, eco-friendly techniques, enriching both the land and our connection to the local community.
Our Goals
Regenerate the Soil
By adopting organic and regenerative farming methods, we are revitalizing soil health to produce nutrient-rich food while capturing significant amounts of carbon.Carbon Neutrality
We strive to offer a carbon-neutral, and potentially carbon-negative, experience to all our visitors.A Pesticide-Free Future
Our project demonstrates to the Ishigaki community that it’s possible to farm without harmful chemicals, paving the way for a sustainable future.Education and Inspiration
By involving locals and visitors in our journey, we hope to inspire the next generation to embrace sustainable practices and contribute to the preservation of our planet.
